Welcome to Timeline Photos. A few years back I started peeking around my archives in search of some of the first photographs I had taken. Here records my quest into better understanding my long term love of camera and experiencing the world with it in hand. All photos appear in chronological order hopefully revealing an evolution of how I see and what moves me to speak with light.

Baby Kennedy

I had the pleasure of walking home on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.  It's a 4.5 mile distance that would take up to 1.5 hours, but with all of the stopping and appreciating of the city's nooks and crannies, it took twice as long.

During a stop at Whole Foods for refueling, a sweet woman holding the tiniest of babies smiled at me more than a few times as we sat outside eating.  She was wonderful with her golden smile, bright red lips, and genuine happiness with the child.  Her daughter, the mother of the baby, was with her, and both had such a spirit about them as they sat and enjoyed their togetherness.

Thank you Ciera and Vanessa for allowing me to take your pictures!  I really enjoyed meeting you and Kennedy.  You are very kind and beautiful

Find your way

I welcomed the return to the familiar space of the farm fields during a walk home at the end of the work week.  I didn't expect to step into the same as I had left it, probably months earlier, and things changed because of the continued construction.  What was a tunnel of tall green trees, now lay only covered from one side with the other bare and open.  Natural landmarks disappeared into the twine and tangle of thorny bush and overgrowth.  I was still able to sense my old path, yet it felt like something unknown and unexplored.  A fallen tree still remained and its large exposed roots and trunk guided me to opening edge of the vegetation.  I anticipated stepping into the more open back field, and when I finally made my way and looked toward the sun, it filtered through a lovely gathering of branches and leaves.  Almost like coming up for air and releasing myself, I pulled myself through and out, and into the clear.

Know and follow you instincts...

A grandfather's beach walk

We stayed with friends at their rented beach house in Dauphin Island, AL for a handful of days and enjoyed a wonderful time. I appreciated the early mornings especially, and liked getting out there to watch the beach come to life with people, birds and activity. After the first day or so I noticed an elderly gentleman with a cane taking walks on the ocean's edge, and I liked following his rhythm and patterns. A couple times I picked up my camera and ran there after him to get a few shots which told a bit of his walking story. His presence was quite memorable.

Return meanderings

After a long and rare nap, I stepped out earlier than usual with Sparkle for our walk.  I had been wanting to go the field since our return from NJ the day before, and without resistance, Sparkle led the way.  I didn't carry my camera but my cell phone, and I appreciated the opp to take a few pictures with it.  None in my collection were from my cell, and I thought it would be interesting to have a different look.  Well, field exploration ended up being minimal, and we found ourselves headed towards the middle school property which sits adjacent to the farm property.  I'm not sure what led her there, but it was such a great open space for views of the simple and pretty sky.   The colors were such swirls of summer, and the high humidity created a wonderful glow of  light.   There's something about these that I really appreciate, and possibly it's the feel of me coming back into myself following my trip.  The transition always takes time, and I'm not sure that it's ever complete.  Either way, this space helps me find the way.

The falling apart basketball hoops caught me eye, too.  :)

Glory

What glory to arrive at the farm field during my morning walks and see such a scene.  I took this during a quick visit with Sparkle, just before work.  I knew that I was running short of time and nearly turned back, but just couldn't do it.  The mix of wet gold and greens in the presence of the tree took me in to be with the rising sun.
