Welcome to Timeline Photos. A few years back I started peeking around my archives in search of some of the first photographs I had taken. Here records my quest into better understanding my long term love of camera and experiencing the world with it in hand. All photos appear in chronological order hopefully revealing an evolution of how I see and what moves me to speak with light.

The Revivalists at the Varsity Theatre - March 11, 2017

Last Sunday night at this time I was exiting The Revivalists show at Baton Rouge's Varsity Theatre feeling content and psyched that I finally saw them again. My heart still races a bit and I'm smilin' big as I review the photos.

My spot at the right corner of the stage under Ed Williams and his pedal steel guitar makes it look like I was sitting on stage with them.

It was THE spot for David Shaw planting it right in front of me for Fade Away. Melt.

I love how he connects with the crowd throughout. I'm always taken in good ways by the energy wave moving through us. So taken, that I lost sense of his location on stage while panning the crowd during Bulletproof. Where's David Shaw? Yup, behind me. I gotta giggle.

(Note that his appearances stage right were reason for high fives with one of the guys next to me who had never seen them before. I had clued him in before the set that he'd be happy with the location.)

The band and crowd were so psyched that Maggie Koerner, who opened the night, returned for the encore.

I'll always remember this show as the one that got me back out on my own to live music since my good friend, Skip, passed away this past August. He's the one who introduced me to this band, and I first saw them live with him and his brother in October 2014. I missed him in the midst very much, and immersing in these sounds and vibes was both tender and healing for the soul.
Thank you, Revivalists.

These boots were made for Festin'

Music, Food, Travel, Beer.
Repeat.

Jazz Fest's Second Sunday followed torrential rains from a storm on Saturday that closed Fest mid afternoon.  I knew that I'd need my boots in order to navigate the lands before and after work with Ms. Lena's Zulu Diamondcutters.  Instead of wishing that I had some fashion boots like many wear to the festival, I pulled out my good 'ol boots worn to the rainforest in 1995!!!  Crazy!  I've had them for 21 years.

It stormed again in the morning, and rained, rained, rained all day long!  They did the job no matter the terrain or how deep the mud.  They were very dance and air-guitar friendly, too.  I was one happy girl.  Even rode my bike out back to the car with them on. :)))

Rain days are good days.

I love the rain and a reason to wear dem boots.

A peek into Preservation Hall

One of my favorite things to do while in New Orleans is swing by its historic Preservation Hall.  Even when it's off hours, there's something very magical about peeking into its space through the smallest of openings and imagining the musical creations born there.

The Revivalists at the Varsity Theater!

Why I've only seen The Revivalists live 2 times?! Soaked up their energy with the crazy amount of fans packed into the Varsity.  I was able to slither and scoot to the right side of the stage, then as a few folks who were in the front left? I planted myself in their spots.  I still had room to dance, rock out and play photographer.  Hot night!!  Thanks to the tech who gave me the setlist from David Shaw's spot.  :)))

Benjamin Booker excellence!

Big holler goes out to the Atomic Pop Shop vinyl store here in Baton Rouge for their 2 ticket raffle for the Benjamin Booker show at the Varsity.  I entered and was more than psyched to have a message on my phone that I had won!!  Shared my tickets with a good friend in from North Dakota, and grabbed another great friend to be there with us, too.

Dear lord!!!!  Leaning on the front and rockin' out during the show made for a more than excellent night.  Hot sounds and energy!!

I was treated to a set list at the end of the show given to me by the drummer, Max Norton. When I asked if he could sign it and get the others, too, he didn't hesitate.  "Go on back...." pointing to the doorway to back stage.  Really?!!!  After a nano second of hesitation I walked on through and was welcomed by Benjamin Booker sittin' on a couch with the opening band, the Yelephants, and a handful of friends.  He even made room for me to sit down.  Happy girl, indeed!

Thank you, Benjamin Booker!!  We were the lucky ones to catch you that night.  :)))
