It was a rainy Easter making for lovely reflective roads during our evening walk.  



On one of our final sidewalk turns, a magical plant was discovered.

From within

This morning took me to the LSU lakes in search of pelicans and a seasonal landscape. The birds were elusive and any moments close to late autumn were whisked away by seconds of time. I wasn't in the 'right place and the right time'. Being frustrated by this, I let it go and just stopped to experience the changing views. The cloud cover began to give way to blue skies, and in the water's reflection the story was told.

From within, when we quiet ourselves, peace will heal, strengthen and emerge.

Melt with you

Isn't it amazing how reflections paint such pretty pictures on pavement?  We were on our way home following my youngest daughter's birthday party, and I was captivated by the scenes as we approached traffic lights and road signs.  I took full advantage of being a passenger and enjoyed the photo opp.  Love the color palette and feel in this one.  

Night dancers

The lights had always fascinated me as they shimmered and danced.  Immersed, I felt cool relief and a sense of companionship in the dark.

Dream a little green with me

These gorgeous reflections of summer green stopped me as I waded through the cool creek waters at Gloster Arboretum, Mississippi.  Surrounded by a tunnel of trees, an opening of bright sunlight waited at a curved bank in front of me.  The subtle water motions blended and moved the light and colors into a wonderful creation.

I'm usually so picky with green hues and tones in my photos, but this range welcomes me in without hesitation.

The mood emerges

The mood emerges
and intermingles with wet, brilliant colors

during my drive home in the rain.

I shared a wonderful evening with friends from our Unitarian Church in one of their homes.  We each contributed food for a holiday meal, and we spent a lot of time talking and sharing what we look forward to this holiday season and new year.  Tears came, laughter healed, hearts moved.  I held hands with a friend and it felt so right to be there with her.  It was one of those priceless experiences which brings me closer to who I am and the special people in my life.  I am fortunate and grateful.

on the eve of my 46th birthday

Off and free

 

My youngest daughter, nearly 4, has a daily ritual of happiness and freedom. Leave school, get in the car, take off your socks and shoes. Stick your toes out the window and feel the cold air in the sunshine. Turn up your local college radio real high, and dance on the car roof once you get home.

Give it a try and enjoy. Really. :) 

Morning Lobby

This was a good spot to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee and croissant before a flight to my parents. I had been through this space before, but it never prompted me to stop. The morning light turned on the reflection and symmetry.

Reflections in brass

 

When I see a brass band, I can't help but see the reflections in brass.  I love this one because it captures the band, the crowd, and the elements of Jackson Square.  And if you can believe it, this is the same band, the Young Fellaz Brass Band, that I crossed paths with the week before on Bourbon.

Where's Yoda?

 

9/23/11:

There hasn't been one time that we haven't looked for Yoda while canoeing in Chicot State Park.  This was taken during the greening season, and it was the first time being amidst the trees without being surrounded by fullness of coverage.  Any visible colors stood out as alive and vibrant.
